My Ode to Engineers and Architects!

Recently during our Viking vacation, I posted a Facebook post under the above title. It was my thoughts on my astonishment and amazement over the incredible engineering and architecture that created such beautiful churches and castles and many other buildings that have lasted for many centuries. I thought I would also share these thoughts with those of you who read my blogs. I must also mention that while I was away on vacation I read Ken Ham’s book, “Six Days”, which presents a very strong case for a literal, historical interpretation of Genesis 1 – 11.

What I found so amazing and incredible was none of these engineers or architects realized that they had evolved from apes or fish, they simply believed in the laws of God that He had created in His design in nature and humanity. Their amazing abilities and creativity are a reflection of the God of design and intricacy whose laws of engineering and architecture can be trusted to build buildings that last for centuries, way beyond the lifespan of many buildings that are being built today. If someone would’ve suggested to these engineers or architects that they can just leave the bricks there and the wood and mortar and over that many centuries all these things would come together to develop amazing and beautiful buildings, they would’ve laughed till they split their side.

Yet isn’t this exactly what secular education is teaching all of our children from the earliest grade onward, that man just evolved out of apes or fish or whatever other trumped-up explanation they come up with. Evolution is one of the monumental lies that Satan has used to destroy human value and human worth. The fact that it is taught at every level of secular education as fact, when it is one of the greatest lies of all history is a very sad truth. God has a very different explanation of humanity which David describes for us in Psalm 139 when he writes, “For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully woven in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they were all written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there was none of them. How precious also are your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them!” (Ps.139:13-17 NKJV). David makes this unbelievably accurate description of the divinely designed period of pregnancy, as though he were looking at an ultrasound. He acknowledges that God providentially watches over the development of each child in its mother’s womb. This is what gives humanity its great value and worth because we are created in the image and likeness of our God. God has not only sovereignly ordained and sanctioned David’s life, but He has also done the same for each of us since our conception.

I remember when I was six or seven years old our family was on our way to a family wedding. Somehow the issue of having children came up in discussion and I remember distinctly my mom saying that “I was an accident”. She was of course talking about me being an unplanned pregnancy, but that statement became part of my self -talk and for many years it defined many insecurities that I experienced. When I was a teenager and the first year I was driving I had a number of accidents, well, of course, I’m going to have accidents because “I am an accident”. For many years I traveled with this impending sense of waiting for an accident or something bad to happen. But as I began to grow in my walk with the Lord Jesus and to begin to understand His plan for my life, I came to the realization that there are no accidents with God. I may have been unplanned from a human perspective, but so was Jesus. In fact, there was no bigger surprise pregnancy than the one that Mary experienced over 2000 years ago. God was in my creation and design and had a plan for my life and for your life as well.

Do not buy societies lie that you are the result of random chance, and circumstances and have evolved out of some goo. Over the last 170 years, not one transitional form has been found in the fossil record, because there are no transitional forms. Mankind did not evolve from some other transitional form, but mankind was created in the image and likeness of our living God, male and female (Gen. 1:27). Our living God who has done all that He can to restore our relationship with Him through the Lord Jesus Christ. Aren’t you glad that you know the One who has created and designed you and He cares for your needs, and you can come to Him with all your burdens and cares and know that you have been invited “to cast all your cares upon Him, for He cares for you”, (1 Peter 5:7).

All For Christ,

Pastor Rich Sivo
