His familys business depends on his success in Peaks. But as Ian pushes to seal the deal, he wonders if he has met his match. Robins gracious spirit threatens to undo his resolve, especially when he discovers the beautiful widow harbors a grief that resonates with his own. With polarized opinions forming all over town, business becomes unavoidably personal and Robin and Ian must decide whether to cling to the familiar or surrender their plans to the God of Second Chances.

Description

This book has been written with a deep impression that the place and power of prayer in the Christian life is too little understood. I feel sure that as long as we look on prayer solely as the means of maintaining our own Christian life, we shall not know fully what it is meant to be. But when we learn to regard it as the highest part of the work entrusted to us, the root and strength of all other work, we shall see that we need nothing more than to study and practice the art of praying. If I have succeeded in pointing out the progressive teaching of our Lord in regard to prayer, and the distinct reference of His wonderful promises of His last night to the works we are to do in His name to the greater works and the bearing of much fruit we shall all admit that only when the church gives herself up to this holy work of intercession can she expect the power of Christ to manifest itself on her behalf. I pray that God will use this book to explain to some of His children the wonderful place of power and influence that He is waiting for them to occupy and that a weary world is waiting for too. - Andrew Murray

Description

Winner of the C.S. Lewis Gold Medal for Outstanding Christian Juvenile Literature.Like Anne of Green Gables, Amy Carmichael was known in her childhood for meaning well but getting into all kinds of trouble. She carried this indomitable spirit with her onto the mission field as she worked to rescue little girls from a life of depravity in the heathen temples. With Daring Faith tells missionary stories focusing on Amy's own childhood, the children she rescued, and her ministry of bringing the gospel to India. Never content to do things man's way when the Lord was showing her a better way, Amy Carmichael was one of the first missionaries in India to adopt Indian dress. Amid Christians who considered manual labor dishonorable, she cheerfully settled down to doing her share of the work with the Dohnavur children. But the qualities of Amy Carmichael that will stand out to the reader are her daring faith, her overcoming spirit, and her tender love for the children she sought to rescue. Her family grew to almost a thousand children before her death in 1951. In Amy Carmichael's victories in India, we see the victory of the Lord Jesus Christ over the powers of darkness.
