As I am blogging this morning (Fri. morning), I’m sitting outside on this perfect weather day and my heart is just filled with a deep sense of joy and thankfulness. I am thankful for all those who served last week at our Vacation Bible School. We had a wonderful ministry and it was completed with the Friday evening’s closing program when many of the parents came out to see their children. I am thankful for all those who worked so hard to make that happen. What an awesome week of ministry it was. I am thankful for the incredible weather God gave us, not only last week but this week as well as we had a few days away at Ocean Grove.
I am grateful and thankful for New Durham Chapel’s ministry at the Ocean Grove Pavilion on Tuesday evening. I am grateful to God that though our music guy couldn’t be there (due to a family emergency) God provided another means of blessing for those in attendance. I am thankful for a deep sense of the Spirit’s presence as we ministered in the shadow of the cross at the Pavilion. I am reminded of Paul’s words to the Philippians in the 4th chapter when he writes “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again; Rejoice!” (v.4 NIV). I am rejoicing in the Spirit’s leading me to ask Sweet Life Music to be our musical accompaniment for the evening. They were a blessing to all who were present.
I was especially blessed by the request made by my grandson Tyler on Monday evening when he asked if he could join me to watch to the sunrise the next morning. Well on Tuesday morning I couldn’t get him up out of bed at 5:45 but he told me later in the day he wanted to try again on Wednesday. When I went to pray and kiss Tyler good night on Tuesday evening he was fully clothed and ready to go for the next morning. He joined me for the best sunrise of the week (see pictures below) as I was reminded again of the Psalmist words, “The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, the world and all who live in it”, (24:1, NIV).
As we were walking off the beach Wednesday morning after watching the sunrise, I knew I just made a really special memory with Tyler. This was reinforced as we walked along when Tyler turned and said “Grandpa that was fun”. My heart was exploding with joy. Out of the mouths of babes. Thank you again Jesus for so many special blessings.
