One of the things that is critical for the success of any gospel ministry is teamwork. Someone has said that “teamwork divides the tasks and multiplies the success”! In the body of Christ teamwork involves every member doing their part. As Paul reminds us in his 1st letter to the Corinthians when he writes, “But now God has placed the members, each one of them, in the body, just as He desired. And if they were all one member, where would the body be?” (12:18-19, NASB).
Later this month our Vacation Bible School will be taking place. This will be my 10th VBS at New Durham Chapel. The 1st one that I was here for I think we had maybe 50 kids in attendance, if my memory serves me correctly. Since then the attendance and participation of volunteers has grown dramatically. Last year I believe we had over 140 kids come through the program. We cannot do this ministry without plenty of volunteers. That’s where teamwork is so critical. Think of the opportunity God has given us to make a difference in the lives of boys and girls. I believe in what we are doing so much that this will be the third year that my grandsons from Michigan will be here for VBS. It is a significant sacrifice and additional stress for us to make it possible for them to attend. But I believe in the ministry of NDC and the team that is leading the program. My grandson Ethan gave his heart to Jesus Christ 2 summers ago during VBS. Last summer during his stay he was baptized at NDC the week before VBS. I am so glad I’ve chosen to invest in making it possible for him and his cousin to attend.
What about you? What will you be investing in this year’s VBS? Every investment may have an eternal return. Everyone can help, even if it’s just to pray for the hearts of the children to be open to the love of God found in Jesus Christ. Every member has a part to play as we seek to minister for God’s glory.
